For years the golden visa was effectively an investor programme. The 2025-2026 expansion changed that, rewarding people who contribute through skill, creativity and long-term presence rather than capital alone.

Skilled and healthcare

Nurses with long service and other healthcare professionals now have clearer pathways, and doctors often receive priority nomination. Data scientists, AI specialists and clean-energy engineers qualify with approved credentials and a qualifying salary.

Education and culture

Exceptional teachers qualify based on measurable contribution, assessed by KHDA in Dubai or RAK DOK in Ras Al Khaimah. Cultural professionals were added as an explicit category in 2026.

Creators and new economy

Digital content creators, influencers, podcasters, photographers and filmmakers apply through Creators HQ, demonstrating a track record and contribution to the UAE creative sector. E-sports professionals and, newly in 2026, climate-tech entrepreneurs and AI specialists round out the expansion.

Waqf donors
